Ventilation

One of the problems we faced last season was moisture in the front cabin, this was more evident later in the fall when outside temperatures were dropping and we used the heater. So, this season we are taking precautions with a solar powered, battery equipped extraction fan.

The installation was a pretty straight forward procedure. I decided to mount it in the the forwrad cabins hatch since it was the easiest place as well as propably the most efficient in terms of ventilation. It will suck up air throught the saloon and the forward cabin and offer ventilation to the large area thats under the front deck.

Tools can be seen in the picture. After carefully taping the hatch in the areas where the holesaw would gut I put some towels beneath the hatch in order to catch any falling sawdust, thus saving time in the final cleanup.

After the hole was cut and sanded to correct size I applied some epoxy to the sides of the hole in order to stop moisture from entering the plywood. The it was only a small task to get some sikflex and finally install the vent.

There we have it. Total time consumed was about 30 minutes and some additional time for allowing sika to cure some before I pressed the vent to its place.
